Christmas TwinsWhat a fun Christmas season it has been!! We've kept busy the past couple of weeks. We had our ward Christmas Party. Both Cael and Daniel had parts in the program. Cael was Joseph and Daniel was a Wiseman. Cael's class put on a Christmas play at school called the "Gingerbread Kid Caper" which was really cute. Christmas Eve we ate our traditional 'Journey Meal'. It is a family tradition that comes from Cortney's family, where we eat by candlelight things that Mary and Joseph might have eaten back on their way to Bethlehem, such as soup, cheeses, bread, olives, grape juice etc. That night we also opened one present and watched a movie called, "Joy to the World" which portrays the birth of Jesus and the real reason for Christmas. The kids finally all crashed around 11:00 just in time for the much anticipated arrival of Santa Claus to deliver Christmas surprizes and fun!
Christmas morning was spent in a whirlwhind of excitement, toys, presents, boxes, and wrapping paper! It's amazing what a mess Christmas can make. We spent the day enjoying our presents, getting toys out of ridiculously complex packaging, putting toys together, and getting all the choas under somewhat control so we could start working on Christmas dinner. Nic wanted to eat something gourmet for Christmas dinner this year and chose Filet Oscar. The kids chose bleu cheese chicken wings. Nic and Cortney spent the evening cooking dinner together. Cortney was little nervous about cooking it and how it would taste, but Nic was right, and the Filet Oscar tasted wonderful. Despite Nic being under the weather and Nathan getting sick, we had a fabulous Christmas and hope you all did too!!!!
